Latest Slipknot album goes against the Game for top spot on Billboard
August 29, 2008
v According to Hits Daily Double (the companion web site of music industry tip sheet HITS), SLIPKNOT’s new album, “All Hope Is Gone” is poised to sell between 230,000 and 250,000 copies in the United States during its first week of release. The CD will go head-to-head with Geffen rapper THE GAME’s “L.A.X.” for the top spot on next week’s The Billboard 200 chart.
SLIPKNOT’s last album, “Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)”, opened with 243,000 copies back in June 2004 to debut at No. 2. “Vol. 3 (The Subliminal Verses)” was the follow-up to “Iowa”, which registered a first-week sales tally of more than 254,000 copies back in September 2001 to enter The Billboard 200 chart at No. 3.
“All Hope Is Gone” is being streamed in its entirety at Spinner.com.
The first single and video from “All Hope Is Gone” is called “Psychosocial”.
SLIPKNOT’s music was also accused last week of influencing a South African teenager who stabbed a classmate to death while wearing a SLIPKNOT-style mask. Corey Taylor told Blender magazine, “I’m disturbed by the fact that people were hurt and someone died. As far as my responsibility for that goes, it stops there, because I know our message is actually very positive.”

Do these album lyrics and music video prove Van Halen are Buddhists?
August 29, 2008
Van Halen’s great rock anthem “Right Now” might also be one of the best Buddhist songs out there.
Who can beat these lyrics for stressing mindfulness and living in the moment?
(Right now) Hey! It’s your tomorrow
(Right now) Come on, it’s everything
(Right now) Catch that magic moment
And do it right, right now (Right now)
Oh, right now!It’s what’s happening
Right here and now
Right now, it’s right now
Oh!
Tell me, what are ya waitin’ for?
Turn this thing around
Van Halen–Buddha’s rockin’ little helpers!
