Before David Lee Roth left the band and they became a poor pop metal imitation of their former greatness, Van Halen ruled the world with the primal fury of Godzilla raging through Tokyo. The VH/Roth ouevre, particularly their first four studio albums, have a rightful place among the best metal albums ever. Here’s the band at the height of their powers:
