Rising blues-rock trio Back Door Slam has been added to the Kid Rock/Lynyrd Skynyrd “Rock and Rebels” tour—including their August 25th concert at the Molson Amphitheatre in Toronto. The invitation to join one of the season’s hottest tours is but the latest feather in the cap of the young group from the Isle of Man.
Just prior to hooking up with Rock and Skynyrd, Back Door Slam, which features singer-writer-guitarist Davy Knowles, bassist Adam Jones and drummer Ross Doyle, all 21-years-old, spent the early summer in North America putting in well-received appearances at Tennessee’s legendary Bonnaroo Music Festival, the Montreal Jazz Festival and Ottawa’s BluesFest, among various well-received club, hall and outdoor dates.
Back Door Slam’s debut album Roll Away continues to generate rapturous response among fans and garner considerable critical acclaim. Acknowledging the group’s classic, rough-hewn but adventurous sound, the Los Angeles Times dubbed Knowles “a guitar god in training,” while Charleston’s City Paper cited the CD’s fiery soulfulness, declaring, “Roll Away rocks and swings with a maturity and confidence beyond the band’s years.”
Check out blues/rock up-and-comers Back Door Slam, along with Kid Rock and Lynyrd Skynyrd, August 25th at The Molson Amphitheatre!
