Scott Weiland will need to serve sentence before Stone Temple Pilots tour
STONE TEMPLE PILOTS frontman Scott Weiland was sentenced on Monday (April 28) to 192 hours in jail for a November 2007 DUI in Los Angeles. Entertainment Weekly has now learned that the singer will serve his sentence, which the judge ordered he do before May 28, and be out in time to commence the band’s 65-date reunion tour, which kicks off May 17 in Columbus, Ohio. Weiland’s lawyer confirmed this to Entertainment Weekly via Weiland’s spokesperson. A statement from Weiland should be released soon, along with further details.
The singer also received four years’ probation, was fined $2,000, and was ordered to take part in an 18-month alcohol program. He was potentially looking at a year behind bars for DUI with a prior conviction. At the time of his November arrest, Weiland had just finished a previous three-year-probation for a 2004 DUI arrested. He declined to take a chemical test after the November incident. He was booked and released after posting $40,000 bail, subsequently checking into a rehab facility in February.
Weiland told satellite shock jock Howard Stern last week (April 23) that he is currently working on his second solo album with producer Steve Albini for a November release. Weiland was joined on the call by NO DOUBT drummer Adrian Young, who is also playing on the record. A release date and title have yet to be revealed. Weiland’s first solo effort, “12 Bar Blues”, was issued in 1998.
Weiland, who was dismissed from VELVET REVOLVER on April 1, has reunited with STONE TEMPLE PILOTS for a lengthy spring and summer tour, beginning at Columbus, Ohio’s Rock on the Range festival.

Gigantour review with Megadeth, Children of Bobomm, In Flames

Gigantour review with Megadeth, Children of Bobomm, In Flames photos
This year’s edition of the Gigantour may have been the third instalment of this massive line-up featuring Megadeth but it was the very first time it stopped in Quebec City. Around 5000 screaming fans filled the sold-out venue as both High on Fire and Job for a Cowboy were playing their first gig ever in the capital. Already loved by many, Children of Bodom followed with a set of crushing anthems and they didn’t look like they were about to slow down with such songs as Hate Me!, Hellhounds on my Trail and Downfall. Next was In Flames, playing a set of recent live successes along with the venomous Graveland, off the Jester Race album. Of course, the evening ended with a much anticipated performance by thrash masters Megadeth. If there ever was a time to see this band live, now is the time because their live shows are tight and so colourful. Even if they played a similar setlist comparing it to the rest of the tour, they did thrown in A Tout le Monde especially for the French Canadian crowd. All in all, a very successful night with high class performances by all bands!

Was this Robin Fink incorrect as he left Guns N Roses and touring?

Was this Robin Fink incorrect as he left Guns N Roses and touring?
Huh? Guns and Roses have toured a number of times since the dissolution of the original band. Axl has no band? That must be news to Tommy Stinson, Ron Thal, Dizzy Reed, et al. How could you even consider posting this slim paragraph, so full of the errors that it is?
