Robert Plant giving up hundreds of millions of dollars with Led Zeppelin tour to play with folk music band?
Can anyone make sense of this? It looks like Mr Plant is willing to delay millions of dollars for his pocket to play in some jazz or folk band. Does not makes sense? Even Led Zep guitarist Jimmy Page said:
"I can assure you the amount of work that we put into the O2 (concert), for ourselves rehearsing and the staging of it, was probably what you put into a world tour…Robert Plant also had a parallel project running and he’s really busy with that project, certainly until September, so I can’t give you any news."
Would you do this? I wouldn’t delay it. I would even pay of f Robert Plant’s other project a nice hundred grand to buy them off. Money speaks louder than anything else as we all know.

The story is irrelevant. Fans have waited decades for a Zeppelin reunion. IF it happens, the timing will make no difference at all. The shows will still sell out instantaneously at whatever prices are set. No doubt about it.
The guy is so rich, whats a few more million? Its really not about money at this point… Robert Plant is doing exactly what he wants to do - jazz, folk, country - and thats pretty much it. Even if project managers walked in to pay off the Plant/Krauss country tour, I would be surprised if Plant somehow financed the country tour himself to make it happen.
Everybody’s drooling for a Led Zeppelin tour - it makes no sense to us, the fans, that Plant would want to postpone the tour. To him, LZ is 40 years in the making- he’s done it all his life. Maybe “giving every inch of his love” to the fans isn’t quite what it used to be. And the tour with Krauss tour is something fresh and new. (just for the record, id take LZ over the Krauss tour any day- not a fan of Raising Sands, but i can respect it)
Let’s not forget, LZ tour IS going to happen, so whats a few more months anyways?? And Robert Plant will undoubtedly pocket his millions then. Besides, Plant voice’s needs all the warm up, and practice at his age and condition (I thought his voice was considerably rough at the O2 concert). Maybe the Krauss tour will provide the warm up he needs.
I am as impatient as the next rabid zep fan but I know that Plant’s fickle nature about Zeppelin reunites have been well documented. Jimmy Page is also aware of this and is willing to wait until Robert is good and ready…I heard a quote from Plant- something like “you never know what can happen” …this is as close as “its on” as we will get from Robert. I am dying to see them in their current polished state, even if I have to wait…We already have seen what Coverdale can do- no need for that.
Pehaps Mr. Plant considers himself to be a true musician/artist and doesn’t care about the money. Wow, imagine that.
anybody heard of commitments??? Mr. Plant has had success in his work with Krause and Burnett. There ARE folks out there who want to hear this calaboration. And he’s made committments to the tour for Raising Sand. Our word should mean something. The LZ tour can still very well happen. Although, it all makes me wonder how much touring Mr. Plant wants to do and can do. He’s not getting younger. He’s been busy performing for the last 20 years off and on. I don’t know that you can say that about Jimmy. Jimmy is probably chomping at the bit to be on stage again.
A world tour is a huge commitment. LZ has been there. I would love to see them play together again but, I also understand a tour means commitment and commitment means work. At this stage perhaps they would rather play for fun. Perhaps have random concerts ( like London.) I think there is a lot of pressure on Robert to commit to this. I understand if he wants to do new and different things because his singing/ voice is still so amazing and versitile.

The Zeppelin tour will happen, mark my words. Pagehas alreayd said as much to the Associated Press.: http://showbizandstyle.inquirer.net/breakingnews/breakingnews/view/20080130-115707/Led-Zeppelin-guitarist-ready-to-take-band-on-world-tour
It’ll just happen later, after the Kraus thing is done. No worries there.
