Avenged Sevenfold albums Why does a band that sucks so much do so well?
They’re talentless, unoriginal in their appearance and they dominate the airwaves on so-called “metal radio,” so how can a band like Avenged Sevenfold get more credit than most of their superior veterans?
They may do better financially, but look at their fans: They’re the pre-pubescent girls who think they’re cool by going against Fall Out Boy and rebelling with a just-as-terrible band. Then again, those are the girls who’ll ask their investment banker daddy’s if Avenged Sevenfold can perform at their Super Sweet Sixteen party, and with more MTV coverage the more sales, etc.
Bands like Avenged are easier to market because unlike some of their other rock counterparts they’re trying to keep that bad-boy-façade-in-an-effeminite-music world alive. Much like Poison in the eighties.
Bands—true rock bands whom are in it for the music and the music only—loved the idea of the struggle of success because they knew it was all going to be worth it in the end. I’m sure Poison did, too, but I just can’t seem to picture James Hetfield crying because he can’t find his lipstick. I’m sure he would’ve eaten it if he happened to find it under one of the bunks. That’s cool. Wearing it? Not so much.
Avenged Sevenfold was all about instant gratification, which isn’t unlike many bands on rock’s slowly dwindling roster. They want their shitty album to sell, and they don’t care if they have to wear makeup like everyone else. It just seems like they’ll do whatever their told to in order to make their first millions, hence, they do better. Could you imagine Phil Anselmo performing in front of thousands of adoring teenage girls every night and not want to blow his brains out? Yeah, me neither.

there’s no point to this artical. Okay, if you don’t like the band then that’s good for you. But no. You write an artical with no facts to back it up and put it on the internet. You must be jelous of their fame and/or the money they’re making. So if you dont like something or someone, the rest of the world doesnt care and if they’re so talentless, i take it you can play all those instruments better than them??

Ok, you have no idea what it took for sevenfold to make it. If you knew anything about them, there first 2 CD’s aren’t even close to GNR…your just a dumb piece of **** who acts like they know music and doesn’t…second, just because you don’t like their music and have a certain opinion does not make anything you just wrote factual or right…in fact it’s extremely wrong and biased and a waste of time…if you took time to listen to M. Shadows voicelines you would realize that he can hit notes that not even your mom could hit while giving birth to you…if you took the time to listen to the skills and theory put behind all the guitaring in their music and actually took time to understand how hard it is to play their music maybe you would have thought twice about your completely unfair and bull**** comments….you stereotyped a group of people just because we like sevenfold and you don’t and you created your own conclusions about sevenfold and their fans because you have your own ****ty opinion…you have no evidence, no back up for your reasons…your a terrible writer and I would consider getting another job…your probably some emo piece of **** anyway

This is very similar to criticisms of Metallica, Guns ‘n’ Roses, and Creed when they first hit the big time. Even rock gods like Aerosmith had to listen at one time to BS about how they were just cheap Led Zeppelin imitations. Being a 38 year old male, hardly fitting the article’s description of an A7X fan, I’ve seen this type of envious drivel enough to know that a band hasn’t made it until a music critic lashes out because the fans discovered the band before he did. My guess is the critic is another would be musician, who turned out to be no good at music, and now spends his time bashing the bands with whom he wishes he could trade places.
I don’t follow, A7X is trying to have a “bad boy facade much like Poison in the eighties.” Ummmmmmm Poison were the ones wearing pink lacey outfits and full make up. And while your one point of James Hetfield not looking for lipstick is true (has NOTHING to do with A7X or your article….. but true) you can’t say that Metallica wasn’t in it for the money when he and Lars sue anyone that uses a word with “ica” on the end. And since when does wearing make up have anything to do with whether or not music is good or not? David Bowie, Alice Cooper, Kiss, Marilyn Manson, even Rob Zombie wear or wore make up at one point or another and they are some of the most influential rock musicians for the last 30 years. Learn to spell, write, and form a coherent thought.
I’m not sure how old you are, but I grew up in the 80’s and 90’s. I was listening to a song from “Slippery When Wet” on the radio when I heard those first echoing notes from “Welcome to the Jungle” followed by what I thought was an actual police siren which turned out to be Axl’s voice. 3 years later, I was surprised that my local “rock” station was going to play something new from Metallica. I heard Enter Sandman for the first time at that point and immediately went out and bought every album they had at the time (and since). 2 years after that, I was amazed by a skinny runt of a guy who was screaming “a mulatto, an albino, a mosquito, my libido….. yay!” Unfortunately, after the latter blew his brains out, I have not had that type of reaction to ANY artist since. Although A7X didn’t make me stop and take notice like Metallica, GNR and Nirvana did. But I have to admit, they are one of the few bright spots along with Godsmack and Disturbed for example, in a sea of Britney’s, Lindsay’s, JT’s etc.
People have been waiting for the next rock band that will just light up the world……….. unfortunately, record companies don’t take chances on new music anymore. They’d rather create a “punk” band like Good Charlotte or make money with Britney carbon copies to sell to 12 yr olds that have mommy and daddy by their music for them.
Further, to be the bearer or bad news, at the end of the 80’s it was New Kids, 90’s it was Backstreet and N’Sync, and we are closing in on the end of the 00’s………… think I’ll take my music collection (which includes Avenged Sevenfold along with the other great rock/metal bands to date) and hide somewhere until the next pop wave is done.
i think Avenged Sevenfold will be the next Beatles….or Stones, by crackee.
all they need to do is get a good fiddle player and pedal steel player to ‘countryfry’ those hits and the’ll be unstoppable.
that video on MTV (i’m not insane) is awesome … but if you had a couple of hillbilly gals in short cut jeans and cowboy boots dancin’ around the barn just imagine the imagry>…
if they re-cut Bat Country as a duet with Faith Hill, DUDE… that would totally rock.
I couldn’t agree with this article anymore. Thanks for saying what every person who knows what music is…..is thinking. I hope people on here will stop with the Avenged Sevenfold GNR comparisons, to even mention that garbage in the same article as GNR is outrageous. GNR is one of the most influential and ground breaking bands ever..period. Avenged Sevenfold will die off in a couple of years and a couple of years after that nobody will give a **** about them. Meanwhile, Appetite for Destruction will still be being bought off store shelfs across the world. Stop listening to and supporting crap people! Reject what’s being shoved down your throat by clear channel and other big media, there’s real music out there and you won’t hear it on your local “metal” station.

Seriously, what the hell? A7X isn’t the catastrphe that you’re making them out to be. Who honestly gives a rat’s ass if they’re popular and successful? Who gives a **** about the fanbase? None of the points you sadly attempted to cover in this POS excuse for an article make any sense.
First off, the band’s fanbase isn’t a relevent point at all. You’re trying to pigeonhole a group because of who likes the band. And by the way, I doubt that the fanbase if predominantly made up of teenage girls. You’re just trying to make A7X out to be a bunch of sellouts, which is not the case at all. Just because a band goes “mainstream”, just beause people enjoy their music enough to the point where the music sells, this doens’t mean the band isn’t any good. Most people have a good sense of what makes good music, and A7X wouldn’t have reached their level of success if they didn’t make good music. ****ty bands, for the most part, don’t reach this point. If you have a problem with their music, I suggest you go back and listen to their albums again, and listen to the lyrics, because getting online and flaming a band behind their back is plain ****ing ignorance at its best.
You’re probably the kid in high school who hated bands once they got successful, because people you didnt’ like enjoyed the same kinda music you did. It’s okay to be rebellious, but not to the point where you make yourself look like an asshole.

Ok it is obvious that you have absolutely no clue about Avenged Sevenfold. Instant gratification????? They have been touring and making albums for like seven years now. How is that instant gratification? Do you even know how many albums they have done? City of Evil wasn’t their first and that’s probably all you know. Now to say they are talentless. Are you insane? Listen to the lyrics of their songs, they are brilliant and unique. Something that you never hear these days with all the bull **** floating around. If you don’t like them fine but to say they are talentless just makes you look stupid. I’d love to see you challenge any one of them at what they do. Then they can shove the damn microphone down your throat and make you eat your words. I am pretty damn positive that Avenged Sevenfold isn’t interested in little girls being their fans. As a matter of fact I have heard them say they oppose it because the girls that are only there to have crushes on them won’t understand what they are doing musicly. They are the best damn band I have seen since The Beatles. They are original and they do what they want. Their talent flows naturally and people who have half a brain know that. If I was you, I’d shut my damn mouth, go listen to their music before you criticize it. Don’t blog if you don’t know what the **** your talking about. Ignorance is what people think of you!!

This article is complete bull****. People always have something to say when a band changes their style and begins to sell records. And dont EVERRRR say this bands name in the same sentence as fall out boy.
stupid article. obviously a7x is way BETTER than fall out boy.. a7x is ORIGINAL. ok, im not just saying this just cuz im a big fan of them but they are GOOD. you can say a7x sucks.. it’s just that you dont understand their songs like we do. u might prefer britney-justin-christina-f.o.b- wannabees and think they can come out with something interesting. as the matter of fact, we are tired listening to those genre. A7x gives out more vibe and they rock hard on stage plus they are not some snobby son of a bitch that doesnt care about their fans. btw, they look great in make up. if girls can wear pants, why not men with make up? grow up. u’r not the first and u will not be the last one to say such thing. everyone hate them cuz they are drop outs but make better living than most educated writer like u. blah…
Obviously this horrible excuse for a writer and anyone who agress with her have never seen them live. I personally have gone to Taste of Chaos twice in the last 2 weeks and they are spectacular. I would like to see anyone (aside from the likes of Slash and other guitar gods) pull off the things that Synyster Gates does on the guitar. Saying a band sucks just because you dislike whatever part of their music you have heard is ridiculous. Listen to ALL of their albums, their lyrics, their instrumental music, then go see them live. A band may suck live and sound good on the album, or vice-versa which is almost impossible, but that is only part of a band’s quality. A7X is so energetic and good live, plus they sound just as good live as they do on the albums. M. Shadows and the rest of the band are amazing. Unlike…. let’s say HIM who sit there and do nothing when on stage. Oh and I wouldn’t even call this horrible excuse for writing anywhere near an article, that’s giving this writer WAY too much credit.
